Courses

The Gaylord High School Foreign Language classes work in conjunction with traditional language arts classes to provide an added multicultural experience for students who choose to participate. As more and more colleges and universities begin requiring foreign language experience for admission, these classes continue to grow in popularity.

Spanish I 

Grades 9-12      1 credit

This is a fast-paced, academic introductory course open to students motivated to put in time and effort to acquire the Spanish language and culture through vocabulary, verbal, and written expression.


Spanish II

Grades 9-12       1 credit
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Spanish I. It is recommended that students who score below 76% in Spanish I consider retaking the class prior to taking Spanish II.


This course will incorporate previous learned material into a more in-depth look at oral and written competency within the Spanish language. Also, additional verb tenses and grammar.

Spanish III

Grades 10-12      1 credit

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Spanish II and current foreign language instructor’s initials. 
Previous learned material will be incorporated into a more in-depth look at oral expression. Several verb tenses will be introduced. Emphasis will be placed on conversation and written expression.

Spanish IV

Grades 11-12      1 credit

Prerequisite: Recommendation of instructor.

This course brings previous learned material from Spanish 1-3 into Spanish 4 where students will work on the whole language acquisition with presentation of plays, reports, readings, projects and conversations.

Spanish V

Grade 12      1 credit

Prerequisite: Recommendation of instructor.

Accuracy is stressed regarding ability to communicate in all tenses.
