Salary schedule placement is determined by the number of years of teaching experience and degree level. Teachers with previous teaching experience will receive one-half step on the schedule for each year of experience up to a maximum of Step 10.
- First year teacher starting salary: $41,089
- Starting salary with 6 years of experience & 20 graduate credits: $48,406
- Starting salary with 10 years of experience & 30 graduate credits: $53,131
- Starting salary with 18 years of experience & a master’s degree: $64,259
GCS offers $2000 toward the cost of graduate credits, half of the cost of tuition for up to 18 graduate credits in a content area taught in our Early College program.

We welcome you to join Gaylord Community Schools as a substitute! Substitute teachers and support staff members are contracted through EDUStaff, LLC.
All substitutes will receive $57.00 toward the cost of the criminal history check when they fill GCS positions a total of 10 times.
Substitute teachers working under a substitute permit will also receive $45.00 toward the cost of their substitute permit after their 10th day of subbing each year.

Substitute Bus Driver Hiring Procedure
Gaylord Community Schools are now scheduling bus driver training sessions for individuals interested in becoming substitute school bus drivers. If you are interested in joining a team of dedicated individuals committed to safely transporting our children each day, please contact David Parsell, Director of Transportation, at 989-705-3022.
